The Icing on the Cake

A new one hour documentary for BBC4, directed and produced by Mark Adderley, shown at 21.00 on November 27th. This is the third in the trilogy of nostalgic documentaries for BBC4, a sister programme to Life is Sweets and Nigel and the Great British Biscuit. Nigel, who believes the world is a happier place when there is a cake on the table, explores the British devotion to home made cake, meeting everyone from bakers, artists, scientists and historians to Jenny Eclair and members of the Clandestine Cake Club.
